摘要
Compared with mechanical circuit breakers, bidirectional solid-state circuit breakers (Bi-SSCBs) offer better performance in DC microgrid protection due to their advantages of a fast and arc-free turn-off. Nevertheless, there is a trade-off among cost, efficiency, and overload withstanding time for the traditional Bi-SSCB based on a single type of switch (e.g., SiC MOSFET or IGBT). This paper proposes a Bi-SSCB based on Si/SiC hybrid switch (HBi-SSCB). The topology, analysis of power switch selection, and gate control pattern of HBi-SSCB are first described. Then the thermal stress of the hybrid switch is analyzed. Finally, experimental results verify the theoretical analyses and the superior performance of the proposed solution compared with the ones based on SiC MOSFETs or IGBTs.
