In order to match the long life span of light emittingdiodes (LEDs),electrolytic capacitor-less off-line LED drivershave been intensely developed, However, the relatively low powerefficiency is a common issue for many electrolytic capacitor-lessdesigns, In this paper, a more effcient single-coupled-inductormultiple-output (SIMO)LED driver is proposed, The electrolyticcapacitor-less design is targeted for lighting applications withcolor mixing and color temperature adjustment, where a smallcapacitance actively balances the power difference between theAC input and multiple DC outputs.Using energy-flow-pathoptimization,the proposed LED driver has some direct andeffcient energy fow paths,In partieular, additional energyfow paths are implemented, connecting directly from the smallcapacitance to multiple DC outputs, Thus, the overall powerefficiency is improved, Furthermore, the proposed LED driver isdesigned with a carrier-based control without the high-precisioncurrent sensor for the single-coupled inductor, and thus simplersignal sampling and reduced control complexity can be achievedfor independent regulations of multiple DC outputs.
