In order to solve the problem of complex structure, high cost and low efficiency in conventional two-stage PV AC module, a novel PV AC module is proposed in this paper. In this AC module, boost converter with an input capacitor is taken as the front stage to achieve the PV panel’s maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and boost the PV interface voltage. The post-stage is a high step-up integrated inverter which can both raise DC link voltage and feed the power to grid at the same time. Firstly, the system’s structure, operation principle and control strategy of the proposed PV AC module are discussed in detail. Then, the feasibility and the validity of the theoretical analysis have been verified by the simulation results of a 250 W/40 kHz prototype. The simulation investigations show that the AC module has the advantages of simple structure, easy control, low cost and high efficiency.
