Due to the presence of a significant portion of renewable DC power sources and DC power devices, DC microgrids are gradually attracting attention, which has generated a large number of studies for AC/DC converter topologies with unified grounding structure. However, these topologies generally have more switches, increasing the overall damage rate of the switches. In this paper, a novel buck-boost AC/DC converter is proposed for DC microgrids. The operating principle of this converter has been described in detail. Simulations have been performed to verify its characteristics.
